I have spent the last year working through my home and switching to greener cleaning products. I've tried many, and loved some but hated others. True sustainability in a home doesn't end with design; rather, it's only just beginning. If we care for our spaces and maintain them we increase their life cycle and reduce our negative impact on the environment. Cleaner products also have a positive effect on our own health. On average, Americans spend over 90% of their time indoors so it's worth considering that any chemicals we use are then inhaled. Despite this knowledge, it can feel so overwhelming to research not to mention cost prohibitive. Today I'm sharing my favorite tried and true products to help kickstart green cleaning in your home!
Dropps Laundry Pods These pods use plant based formulas, carbon neutral shipping and compostable packaging plus they smell great.
Johnny Drops Like a bath bomb for your toilet! Simply drop one in, let it fizz for a few minutes then scrub with a wand.
Ecotiva Glass Spray Bottles Ditch disposable spray bottles and beautify your counter all in one.
Biokleen All-Purpose Cleaner One of the first cleaners I tried and still my favorite. A concentrate, this all-purpose cleaner can be diluted for different applications. It's unscented so I love adding essential oils.
Puracy Natural Stain Remover This plant based stain remover actually works better than other chemical brands I've tried. A must have for kids and pets!
Marley's Monsters Unpaper Towels A great option if you are trying to ditch the paper towels, these flannel cloths can be thrown in the washing machine when dirty. I also used these instead of baby wipes for both of my children.
Grove Walnut Scrubber Sponge I realized after trying several alternatives that I still prefer a sponge to clean dishes but felt terrible about disposable waste-enter the walnut sponge! It works just as well as it's plastic counterpart but can be composted when done.
Swedish Dishcloths These are fantastic when you need a super absorbent paper towel alternative and can be used over 200 times.
